DJ | Odysseus
Odysseus leapt from a career as a 3 time LA Weekly award winning Theater Director into a quest to uncover the power of dance in the mid-nineties
As a resident DJ for LA'S new moon Integral Gathering and Zodiac, he raked through crates of international record stores and indigenous recordings seeking to blend global beats with electronic beats in an era before every electronic genre was saturated with world music.
At the turn of the millennium, he headed to the Big Island of Hawaii to pioneer what is now a thriving, fertile dance scene, with the quest to explore how intentional music gatherings could evolve if surrounding community was more aligned in values with the PLUR values of the dance community and the land was at it most powerful.
That quest laid the fertile ground and inspired the birth of ecstatic dance at Kalani Honua on the Big Island
He has activated ecstatic dancers in Amsterdam, Belgium, Bremen, Nijmegan, Corfu, Lisbon, SF throughout the Hawaiian islands, and is a resident at Kalani Honua
While he infuses each dance with specific community aligned intentions, his overarching intention is for dancers to feel safe and vulnerable enough to express joy, with maximum passion.

We dance on the sand at the end of Rose Ave, in-between the lifeguard towers. The closest address is “1 Rose Avenue, Venice, CA”. From here, head onto the sand towards the water and you will see us gathering in between the lifeguard towers.
